Downtown Minneapolis has a bunch of beautiful glass buildings. That's the first place I spent time mesmerized by reflections on buildings. Puffy white clouds, gray skies, and other buildings made fascinating patterns on glass of all colors. Today I remembered to grab my camera as I flew out the door, not knowing what I'd manage to shoot on a rushed, cold, foggy morning. Turns out, I was in luck :)
I hadn't studied tree reflections before this morning. The trees here are planted densely enough that their reflections, compressed into two dimensions, looked like a woodland that I should have been able to reach, if only I knew the right words to pass through the glass.
I love that feeling of being this close to entering one of those magic realms I read so much about as a child. Wonderland, Narnia, the tree hollow on My Side of the Mountain - I wanted to live there so badly! In a lot of ways, I still do - but have at least matured to the point where I realize that they'd be nice places to visit, but perhaps not to spend the rest of my life.
